One of the MLB picks the model loves for Tuesday: The Kansas City Royals pick up the win at +125 on the money line against the Los Angeles Angels. Kansas City was unable to control Los Angeles’ offense in Monday’s season opener, as Mike Trout homered and Shohei Ohtani went 3-for-5 with three RBIs in the Angels’ 10-3 victory. The Royals surrendered 14 hits in the setback but are likely to have a better showing with Danny Duffy on the mound. The 32-year-old left-hander was superb in his season debut at Cleveland, limiting the Indians to only two hits in six scoreless innings.
Celtics vs Trail Blazers Picks: Green Making Green – Jayson Tatum recently dropped a career-high 53 points (with the caveat of doing so in OT against the Wolves’ anemic defense), Jaylen Brown continues to be a top-tier second option, Marcus Smart remains an omnipresent irritant and constant motor, and the Timelord, Robert Williams, is finally getting consistent minutes and enjoying a breakout campaign. You knew Brad Stevens would get them clicking eventually.
Minnesota Twins vs Boston Red Sox MLB Picks, Odds, Predictions 4/13/21 –
For the Tuesday starting pitcher role, the Sox will go with Martin Perez. In his season debut, Perez gave up three runs and struck out six batters over five innings of work versus the Rays. Perez played for the Twins in 2019 and won 10 games.
Over on the Twins’ side, they had a three-game set versus the Mariners over the weekend and lost two of those outings. In Sunday’s game versus Seattle, the Twins had an early lead but ended up falling 8-6. Starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker went 5.0 innings with seven hits and four earned runs.
Baltimore Orioles vs Seattle Mariners Game 2 MLB Picks, Odds, Predictions 4/13/21
For the Tuesday game two, the Mariners will send out Nick Margevicius. So far this year Margevicius has two appearances under his belt, totaling 4.2 innings with four hits, four earned, two homers allowed, one walk, four strikeouts and a 7.71 ERA. He’s currently filling in for the injured James Paxton.
Over on the Baltimore side, they had a rough weekend against the Red Sox, falling in all three games for a sweep. On Sunday, the Orioles couldn’t get much of anything going until the later innings in a rough 14-9 loss. Starter Jorge Lopez put up 4.0 innings with eight hits, seven earned and four strikeouts.
Nationals vs. Cardinals Odds & Picks: Washington Is Mispriced –
The Nationals snapped a five-loss streak with a 5-2 road victory against the Cardinals on Monday night.
It was a much-needed win for Washington after starting 1-5 without multiple key players in the lineup due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the clubhouse — those absences included Josh Bell, Kyle Schwarber and Josh Harrison, though all three returned to the lineup on Monday.
Tuesday’s NBA Betting Odds, Picks, Predictions: Our Staff’s Best Bets For Hawks vs. Raptors, Heat vs. Suns (April 13)
The Raptors have won three of their past six games and have outscored opponents by 51 points over that stretch. Sure that margin is almost entirely due to that one outlier Warriors game, but we’re looking at baby steps here for a franchise that had lost 12-of-13 games prior.
Take that ugly stretch out and Toronto is 20-21 on the season, still not great but definitely in that mix of East teams between fourth and 10th place.
RBC Heritage 2021 expert picks: Why doesn’t Collin Morikawa get more respect?
A consensus among our betting panel this week? Collin Morikawa at 20-1 odds. The guy has won four times on the PGA Tour since turning pro in 2019. That’s an incredible number, and yet oddsmakers are still offering these favorable odds. As Golf Digest contributing data scientists Pat Mayo (of Mayo Media Network) and Rick Gehman (RickRunGood.com) point out, Harbour Town matches Morikawa’s strengths (accuracy off the tee and on approach) perfectly. It’s tough not to like him this week.
