Houston cruised to victory on Thursday, running Temple out of the gym and running up a 84-46 score at Fertitta Center.
Bettors who backed Houston were also rewarded, as they covered the closing number as a favorite of -16.5 at sportsbooks.
Fabian White Jr. had 26 points for Houston and Taze Moore chipped in with 19 points. Jamal Shead had 13 assists for them, while Josh Carlton was the team’s top rebounder, grabbing 8 boards.
Temple got a 10-point performance from Jahlil White, who was supported by 10 points from Nick Jourdain. Tai Strickland had 3 assists in a losing cause for Temple, while Tai Strickland grabbed 5 rebounds.
Houston was winning at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
Houston won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 35-26.
Next game, Houston takes its act on the road to face Memphis looking for another win. For Temple, they head home to face South Florida.
